How to be intelligently smart (Be Career smart now!)- by Erinle Olawale

I have longed for this moment to distinguish between these qualities, but sometimes it seems they are inseparable. But when looked critically, they are different.

Brilliance comes from being exceptionally effulgent or having the quality of Extraordinary Mental Capacity, so to speak. It comes, most times from Excellence or better still, as a result  of Academic Excellence. Intelligence on the other hand has to do with the ability to know facts, meanings, principles ,and subsequently become applicable to practice. It is the act of comprehending what you have deep within. It may be classified as talent or adeptness.

It is a known fact that these are endearing qualities because they deals with mental abilities, but, In as much as they work hand in hand, they are distinctively different. One can be brilliant, but not intelligent, one can be intelligent but brilliance elude him. brilliance is a brightness of giving ideas and suggestions on something based on foreknowledge on that particular thing by the person, while intelligence is developed from childhood.

Brilliance of any person is correspondent to creativity, luster, excellence. Intelligence of any person on the hand is correspondent to smartness, self awareness, logic, high level of cognition.

A brilliant person may be a phenomenal when it comes to eloquence, he may be a Man of the people, he may be well fond of by peers because of his sheer of brilliance. He is  just outstanding. He may set the pace when it comes to Academic Achievement, and Emerges as the best graduating Student.

An intelligent person may never be outspoken, may never be good in Academics, but he knows how to practically use what he knows.

Examples: A footballer may not be as good in excelling well, through public speaking, but he is outstanding because of his adeptness, because of his talents. He may be termed as being successful.

A musician may not know how to write lyrics, but he is intelligent enough to know how to sing smoothly without horrendous error. Its as a result of intelligence. A brilliant person has an idea, and intelligent person knows how to use it. It’s about being smart.

There are millions of brilliant students that ends up not being successful in life, which may be as a result of over reliance on just their ability to read, understand, too much correction of the mistakes of the unlettered One’s, whereas they ought to have also make plans for unforseen situations. That’s when intelligence comes in.

A person may studied micro biology in school, but end up being a banker. A person may studied mass communication, and can still end up being a data analyst. These happens because the person do not just rely too much on brilliance, but he complement it with intelligence! The ability to be diverse.

However, a person can be both brilliant and intelligent respectively, that may be the perfect combination ever, just be dynamic!

The point is, don’t be dependent on that brainy brain alone, know how to use them. And that’s by being intelligent! Being smart!

Consequently, be brilliant, but never put an halt to intelligence!
